Man nabbed over exam malpractice

A 28-YEAR-OLD former student of Northern Technical College (Nortec) in Ndola has been arrested for allegedly writing an examination for a student at the same institution.Copperbelt police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba says the incident happened on Tuesday around 14:00 hours at Nortec.


The suspect has been identified as Happy Lupiya, 28, of Minsundu Township, Ndola, while the student is Blessings Katuta.

Mr Mweemba said the matter was reported by David Lombe, 35, a specialist assessment and certification officer, on behalf of Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority Zambia (TEVETA).
He said when the examination was being conducted on Tuesday, an invigilator, Bright Challeh, noted an anomaly.
“It so happened that one of the invigilators by the name of Challeh Bright was checking and verifying the entry slips and identification cards for candidates.
“He discovered that one of the candidates by the name of Katuta Blessings, who was supposed to write the said examination, did not go to write. Instead, he sent another person by the name of Happy Lupiya, the former student at the said college,” Mr Mweemba said…
